Spiritual Books I Recommend
All of these books had something special to say to me at different times in my life and I truly believe that the mind is a place where even if we spend years exploring, we will still find something new or different or challenging. Some of these have a spiritual element and some are entirely spiritual… but to me, mind and spirit are interlinked and it doesn’t matter.
Happy exploring!

The End of Death

We don’t trust God. We may think we do! But when we dare to look deeply into our own unconscious mind, we’ll be shocked to learn what we really believe about God—and thus, about Self and world.
The End of Death – Volume One: The Development of Trust is a clear and uncompromising beacon that illuminates our current predicament, as well as the steps required in our journey home to God.
Using A Course in Miracles as its treasure map, The End of Death carves a brilliantly clear and insightful path straight toward the treasure of Christed awareness. With startlingly lucid explanations, Nouk pares the Course’s true message down to its most powerful essence. And the many Course quotes she includes offer undeniable proof of the argument she makes: That Jesus asks every one of us to embody full Christed awareness — right here, right now, while still in a body — just as He did.

A Course in Miracles
Nothing real can be threatened.
Nothing unreal exists.
Herein lies the peace of God.

ACIM Original Edition Text contains the unabridged Text volume of A Course in Miracles as it was completed by Helen Schucman and Bill Thetford in 1972. The conversational tone of this edition invites the novice student into conversation with the Author, and even advanced students of ACIM find a new clarity and deeper understanding. Does not include Workbook for Students or Manual for Teachers.
This is how A Course in Miracles begins. It makes a fundamental distinction between the real and the unreal; between knowledge and perception. Knowledge is truth, under one law, the law of love or God. Truth is unalterable, eternal and unambiguous. Truth can be unrecognized, but it cannot be changed. It applies to everything that God created, and only what He created is real. Truth is beyond learning because it is beyond time and process. It has no opposite; no beginning and no end. It merely is.

Conversations with God.

Conversations with God takes its readers on an inspirational journey, teaching them how to conduct a dialogue with God and reach a better understanding of themselves, others and the world we all inhabit.
In an interview with Larry King, Walsch described the inception of the books as follows: at a low period in his life, Walsch wrote an angry letter to God asking questions about why his life wasn’t working. After writing down all of his questions, he heard a voice over his right shoulder say: “Do you really want an answer to all these questions or are you just venting?” Though when he turned around he saw no one there, Walsch felt answers to his questions filling his mind and decided to write them down. The ensuing dialogue became the Conversations with God books. When asked in a recent interview how does he ‘open up’ to God these days, Neale stated “I am reaching out to touch others with this information. When I reach out and touch others with this information I reconnect immediately with the divine presence.”

The Power of Now
The author writes that an individual should be aware of their “present moment” instead of losing themselves in worry and anxiety about the past or future. Tolle’s first book, The Power of Now, was first published in 1997 by Namaste Publishing. Only 3,000 copies were published of the first edition. He said he and his friends personally delivered some copies of the book to bookstores in Vancouver and the surrounding area. The book was republished on a large scale by New World Library in 1999. In 2000, Oprah Winfrey recommended it in her magazine O. In August 2000, it reached The New York Times Best Seller list for Hardcover Advice. After two more years, it was number one on that list. By 2008, the book had been translated from English into 33 languages. Since then, it has been translated into. He published his second book, Stillness Speaks, in 2003. In July 2011, The Power of Now appeared on the list for the 10 best selling Paperback Advice books for the 102nd time.

The book draws from a variety of “spiritual traditions”, and has been described by one reviewer as “Buddhism mixed with mysticism and a few references to Jesus Christ, a sort of New Age re-working of Zen.” It uses these traditions to describe a “belief system based on living in the present moment”. Its core message is that people’s emotional problems are rooted in their identification with their minds.
According to the book, only the present moment is important, and both an individual’s past and future is created by their thoughts. The author maintains that people’s insistence that they have control of their life is an illusion “that only brings pain”. The book also describes methods of relaxation and meditation to aid readers in anchoring themselves in the present. These suggestions include slowing down life by avoiding multi-tasking, spending time in nature, and letting go of worries about the future. Some of the concepts contained in The Power of Now, such as the human ego and its negative effects on happiness, are further elaborated in the author’s later books, in particular, A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose (2005).
